SELEUKID KINGS. Antiochos VII Euergetes (Sidetes), 138-129 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.56 g, 1 h), Antiochia on the Orontes. Diademed head of Antiochos VII to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ - ΕΥΕΡΓΕΤΟΥ Athena standing front, head to left, holding Nike in her right hand and resting her left on shield decorated with gorgoneion and set on ground; spear leaning against her left arm; to outer left, monogram of ΔΙ above Α; on shield, A; all within laurel wreath. SC 2061.3 var. (AI on shield). Apparently unpublished with this shield control. Beautifully toned and with a wonderful portrait. Light marks and with a flan crack, otherwise, extremely fine.
