ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Salduqids. Diya' al-Din Ayyub, AH 540-543 / AD 1145-1148. Fals (Bronze, 27 mm, 5.70 g, 5 h). Two standing figures facing in a Byzantine style. Rev. Within a central dotted circle, ‘Ḍiyāʾ / al-Dīn’ (‘Diyaʾ al-Din’ in Arabic); around, ‘al-sulṭān al-muʿaẓẓam Ghiyāth al-Dīn’ (‘The great sultan Ghiyath al-Din’ in Arabic). Album P1890. Zeno 226673. Extremely rare. Deposits and scratches, otherwise, very fine.
