ISLAMIC, Mongols. Great Khans. Uncertain rulers, AD 1230s-1260s. Dirham (Silver, 21 mm, 1.48 g), Imil, AH 662 = 1263/4. ‘lā ilāha illā / Allāh Muḥammad / rasūl Allāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘ḍuriba al-dirham bi al-madina Īmīl’ (‘[This] dirham was struck in the town of Imil’ in Arabic). Rev. Double-trident tamgha of Möngke in the center; the date in the margin. Album S1979. Some weakness and lightly toned, otherwise, very fine.
