★ A fresh and sharp posthumous tetradrachm of Lysimachos from Byzantion ★
KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.38 g, 11 h), Byzantion, circa 175-150 BC. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩ[Σ] - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with gorgoneion; to inner left, monogram; on throne, BY; in exergue, ornamented trident to left. Light die breaks on the obverse and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good extremely fine.
