CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 333-331/0 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.95 g, 11 h), Kal... and Phi..., magistrates. Nude, helmeted rider on horse galloping to right, stabbing with spear held in his right hand and holding two other spears and shield in his left; to left, Λ; to right, Ν; below, ΚΑΛ above Χ. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to right, holding helmet with both hands; below, ΦΙ. Fischer-Bossert 730 (V277/R569). HN Italy 896. Vlasto 555. A lovely example of fine style. Some scuffs and slightly rough, otherwise, about extremely fine.
