Alexius III Angelus-Comnenus, 1195-1203. Aspron Trachy (Electrum, 27 mm, 4.13 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, circa 1195-1197. +ΚЄ ROHΘЄI Christ, nimbate, seated facing on throne without back, wearing pallium and colobium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; above, IC - XC. Rev. AΛЄΣIⲰ ΔЄCΠΟ [ ... ] Alexius III standing facing on the left, wearing crown and loros, holding labarum set on globe together with St. Constantine, standing facing on the right, nimbate, bearded and crowned, wearing divitision and loros; both holding cruciform scepter. DOC 2a. SB 2009. Sharply struck and unusually well preserved. Minor weakness on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
