Description

Lucius Appuleius Saturninus, 104 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.83 g, 6 h), Rome. ROMA Saturn, holding harpa in his right hand and reins in his left, driving quadriga to right. Rev. L•SATVRN Saturn, holding harpa in his right hand and reigns in his left, driving quadriga to right; below horses, G. Babelon (Appuleia) 3. Crawford 317/2. RBW 1170 var. (differing control). Sydenham 580. Rare. Small punch on the obverse, otherwise, about very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, privately acquired from Lanz (with collector's ticket).
