Description

PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes II to Artaxerxes III, circa 375-340 BC. Stater (Gold, 15 mm, 8.35 g), Sardes. Persian king or hero in kneeling/running stance to right, holding spear and bow. Rev. Oblong irregular incuse. BMC Arabia pl. XXV, 24. Carradice, late type IIIb/IV (pl. XV, 50). Minor marks, otherwise, very fine.

From the Hestia Collection, formed over the past five decades, privately acquired before 2005.
