Description

PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Xerxes II to Artaxerxes II, circa 420-375 BC. Daric (Gold, 16 mm, 8.33 g), Sardes. Persian king or hero in kneeling/running stance to right, holding spear and bow. Rev. Oblong irregular incuse. BMC Arabia pl. XXV, 12. Carradice Type IIIb C (pl. XIV, 42). Sunrise 28. Minor doubling on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
