★ Boldly struck on a very large flan ★

SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.77 g, 7 h), in the types of Alexander the Great. Laodikeia by the Sea, circa 300-281. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΣΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, dolphin to left above monogram; below throne, monogram. Houghton, Early, Series II, Group 7, A9/P7 ( this coin ). SC 36.6. WSM 1204. Boldly struck on a very large flan, a lovely coin. Minor die break on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
