KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.00 g, 1 h), Miletos, circa 295-275. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in field to left, monogram of MI. Price 2150. A very well centered and attractive piece of bold early Hellenistic style. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
