Valerian I, 253-260. Aureus (Gold, 21 mm, 2.64 g, 6 h), Rome, 254-256. IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS P F AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Valerian to right. Rev. VIRTVS AVGG Mars advancing right, holding spear pointing forward in his right hand and trophy over his left shoulder. Calicó 3454b. Cohen -. MIR 84a (1 specimen). RIC -. Extremely rare. Smoothed and with a plugged hole at 12 o'clock on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
