Description

INDIA, Mauryan Empire. Mashaka (Silver, 5 mm, 0.13 g), circa 3rd-2nd century BC. Srivatsa in center; to left, taurine. Rev. Blank. Hardaker Ad3. Pieper 181. About very fine.

From a collection of coins from Central Asia.

The mashakas were the smallest coins issued in ancient India. They were issued until the Sunga period (185-75 BC).
