Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.84 g, 4 h), Lugdunum, 2 BC-AD 4. CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE Laureate head of Augustus to right. Rev. AVGVSTI F COS DESIG PRINC IVVENT / C L CAESARES Caius and Lucius standing facing, each togate and resting hand on shield; behind each shield a spear; between them, lituus and simpulum. BMC 540. Cohen 43. RIC 210. Beautifully toned. Struck on a somewhat short flan, otherwise, extremely fine.
