★ An exceptional hemiassarion of Caius from Laodicea ad Lycum ★

PHRYGIA. Laodicea ad Lycum. Caius, Caesar, 20 BC-AD 4. Hemiassarion (Orichalcum, 16 mm, 2.55 g, 12 h), Anto. Polemon, Philopatris, circa 5 BC. ΓAIOΣ KAIΣAP Bare head of Caius to right. Rev. ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ Eagle standing front, wings spread and head to left, between monograms of ΠΟΛΕ and ΦΙΛΟΠΑΤ. RPC I 2900. SNG Copenhagen 557-558. An absolutely exceptional example, certainly the finest known. Very well centered and with a beautiful portrait, and with a splendid glossy dark patina. Good extremely fine.
