★ A nicely toned tetradrachm from Messana ★

SICILY. Messana. 475-471 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.19 g, 12 h). Charioteer, holding kentron in his right hand and reins in his left, driving biga of mules to right; in exergue, olive leaf. Rev. MESSENION Hare springing right. Caltabiano 94 (D50/R49). Nicely toned and very well centered. Very light doubling on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
