A Commander’s Cross of the Order in GOLD,
89x60 mm, with white enameled arms enriched by
grooved borders and ball-finials, flanked by red
enameled, rounded beams; oval centre medallion
with separately-made image of the saint on pebbled
background, his feet on green enameled “grass”;
red enameled outer circlet, bearing the golden
motto “UBIQUE SIMILIS”; golden, oval, reverse
medallion bearing the polished letters “S.J.F. 1807.”,
within red enameled outer circlet with golden, stylized
palm branches; red enameled upper loop in the form
of ribands, to which the ducal crown is hinged;
with original, silk neck ribbon.
A highly attractively made piece, surely of early,
Tuscan manufacture, excellent condition. I- R!
