Bourne 1890-26 and 1890-37. The Philatelic West was a general hobbies magazine published between 1896 and 1930. It began as a publication of the Nebraska Philatelic Society, and its exact title changed now and then throughout its history, usually reflecting shifts in the popularity of various hobbies. While its primary focus was on stamp collecting, numismatics also fell under its purview, as did a number of other avocations. Numismatic authors who contributed to the publication include Edgar H. Adams, Farran Zerbe, S.H. Chapman, and Tom Elder, whose photograph graces the December 1915 issue's front cover. Note that Volumes I and II consist of six issues, Volume VI consists of two issues, and all other volumes consist of three issues, with the numbering plagued by occasional errors and the publishing schedule at times inconsistent. The publication changed hands in 1931 and became Hobbies Magazine. Crawford 707. Ex M. Bourne Library.
