Canada St. John's, Antigua- Royal Bank of Canada $5 3.1.1938 Ch. # 630-26-02 PMG Very Fine 25. Like many Canadian banks, the Royal Bank of Canada maintained an extensive branch banking operation in British Caribbean territories. The earliest notes intended to circulate in these branches were overprinted examples of regular issue Canadian notes, but later colonial issues were special printings denominated exclusively in local currency. All are scarce today, and many are quite rare. This is a pleasing mid-grade example with just a minor speck of residue on the back.
