Probus (AD 276-282). AV aureus (22mm, 6.56 gm, 5h). NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5, light scuff. Ticinum, AD 277. IMP C M AVR PROBVS P AVG, laureate, cuirassed bust of Probus left, seen from front / CONSE-RVAT AVG, Sol standing facing, radiate head left, nude save for chlamys across left shoulder, right hand raised in gesture of adlocutio, globe in outstretched left. RIC V.II 309, pl. 2, 13 (same obverse die). Calicó 4153. With delightful flow lines on the obverse, this carefully centered strike simply shimmers in the light.
