Probus (AD 276-282). AV aureus (21mm, 6.39 gm, 6h). NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5. Ticinum, AD 277. IMP C M AVR PROBVS AVG, laureate, cuirassed bust of Probus left, seen from front / CONSE-R-VAT AVG, Sol standing facing, radiate head left, nude save for chlamys across left shoulder, right hand raised in gesture of adlocutio, globe in outstretched left. RIC V.II 309 var. (obverse legend). Calicó 4152a (same obverse die). This coin boasts a lifelike glint in the emperor's eye and a gracefully posed Sol.
