Description

Republic Lu Yu Ting silver Medal Year 5 (1916) AU Details (Mount Removed) PCGS, KM-X925, L&M-948, Kann-Plate 190, WS-0119. An incredibly elusive silver medallic commemorative issue featuring a bust of Republican General Lu Jung-t'ing. Issued in multiple sizes, this edition being described in "Unusual World Coins" as the "20 Cents" variety. The last major appearances of this wonderful rarity were in 2017 and 2008. Viewing this handsome piece from each face reveals very little noticeable evidence of the mount removal, so the visual appeal is quite strong overall. This is aided by the high level of remaining detail on the whimsical and charming design motifs and slight residual luster despite a light cleaning. Collectors of Chinese portrait issues, medallic or numismatic, should be sure to take note of this special occasion as another of the type might not surface again for years to come.
