Description

Republic gold Central Mint Bar of 5 Taels ND (1949-1951) MS61 PCGS, Taipei mint, cf. L&M-1077. 70x30mm. 156.29gm. .991 Fineness. Stamped with a depiction of an ancient spade coin (the mark of the Central Mint) and the weight (5.000 (Taels)), fineness (991.0), and serial number (CD14736). An elusive issue, with most 5 Tael bars of this nature featuring the portrait of Sun Yat-sen. Very lightly handled but still retaining enough original brilliance to have earned a Mint State designation from PCGS. A very collectible official mid 19th Century gold ingot.
