Description

Victoria gold Proof Sovereign 1853 PR65 NGC, KM736.1, S-3852D. A richly colored specimen from the rare 1853 Proof Set, firmly in the gem-level grade category for its absence of handling marks or significant hairlines. Victoria's portrait clearly shows a matte frost, but the mirror fields have toned over time to a subdued gleam reducing the contrast somewhat; this in no way detracts from the eye appeal, as it gives the entire planchet a warmer look and a more intense color. Rarely found in any grade let alone this highly certified, a premium Sovereign of high rarity and perpetual popularity.
