Honorius, Western Roman Empire (AD 393-423). AV solidus (22mm, 4.43 gm, 1h). NGC Choice AU S 5/5 - 4/5. Ravenna, AD 422. D N HONORI-VS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed three-quarter facing bust of Honorius, spear in right hand across body, shield in left decorated with Christogram / Roma and Constantinopolis seated facing each other on cuirasses, heads turned facing, holding between them shield inscribed VOT / XXX / MVLT / XXXX; R-V in fields, COMOB in exergue. RIC X 1331 var. (palm between Roma and Constantinopolis). Very rare type. From the Morris Collection. Ex CNG Triton IV, (5 December 2000), lot 732.
