Kweichow. Republic "Auto" Dollar Year 17 (1928) AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, KM-Y428, L&M-609, Kann-757e. Two blades of grass, ventilator lines curved at top variety. The famed "Auto" dollar of Kweichow, commissioned by governor Chow Hsi-chen to commemorate the completion of the first provincial highway in Kweichow and the first numismatic emission to feature a modern motorcar on its façade. Although fairly attainable at this state of preservation, rarely do similarly graded examples retain the level of detail to the "Auto" motif witnessed here. An autumnal patina with attractive silhouetting on the reverse further elevate the eye appeal here, positioning this as a strong contender for the price-conscious collector.
