A show-stopping example of a type rarely encountered in straight grades, let alone in Mint State certifications, where even VF examples inspire surprisingly strong interest. Few, if any, can claim to match the level of aesthetic and conditional quality seen here, with careful scrutiny revealing a paucity of distracting marks lending a conservative assignment, elevated even further by smooth, velveteen luster and a mottled cobalt patina. A survey of the conditional censuses reveals only two specimens out of more than 750 at the Gem level, the current example and an unimaginable MS66+. With only an MS63 being the finest to come to market in the last twenty years, one can only assumed the sky is the limit for this nearly-pristine offering.
