The first note in an extremely rare set of notes from the Orange River Colony and Orange Free State. The Orange River Colony was a British Colony shortly after the turn of the century. It was short lived and notes bearing the name are rare. The serial number range seen on this note indicates just 500 regular issue notes were planned or issued. Excellent and finely detailed steel plate designs are seen on this small denomination for the Natal Bank, as designed and printed by Bradbury Wilkinson.
