South Africa Government Noot, Pietersburg 100 Pounds 1.4.1901 Pick 65 PMG About Uncirculated 50. After the fall of Pretoria to the British in 1900, the Zuid-Afrikaansche currency issuance commenced in Pietersburg. This issue should not be mistaken for the more prevalent Pretoria Gouvernements Note. The £100 was the highest denomination from this issue, and was printed by De Wachter newspaper. The signatories were Brugman as Acting Auditor and de Villiers as Acting Treasurer. There were only 200 notes printed of the £100 in total, and there is no proof that all 200 were issued. This is the first time that we have offered this Boer War example, and we have been unable to find any public sale for this variety. The PMG Population Report only has one other recorded as a Very Fine 30. Although stains are mentioned, it does not detract from its desirability as a survivor of war.
