RIC | ARD : D : G : REX : ANGL : Z : FRANC : D : hIB Z AQ(double saltire stops), King standing in ship, holding sword in right and shield in left, flag at stern / + IhC : AVTEM : TRANSIENS : PER : MEDIV : ILLORVM : IBAT (double saltire stops), ornate cross fleury, crowned leopards in angles, R at center, all within polylobe with trefoils in spandrels. Slightly double struck on an undersized flan, but not at all lacking in appeal. Gem-preserved surfaces are invigorated by original bloom at the highpoints, dancing around well-defined central devices.
