Description

British India. Victoria gold Proof Restrike 5 Rupees 1870-(c) PR65 S Cameo NGC, Calcutta mint, KM476, Prid-40, S&W-4.23. Reeded edge. Young bust. CM initials on truncation of neck. Brilliant straw-gold, with an impressive degree of hard mirror reflectivity that produces a night-and-day contrast against devices, particularly visible to the obverse. Isolated stray wisps appear to be the only factor that precludes finer certification, but this offering truly earns its "star" designation by virtue of pure visual impact. Quite elusive at this conditional level, and with the eye appeal to match.
