A significant rarity from Nicholas I's stunning Rouble coinage, a series that is known to the greater collecting community for its superior quality, with even circulating issues boasting the appearance of Proof strikings. Yet here we have a verifiable Proof; the edges straight and crisp, the features fully articulated as intended by the engraver, the steely argent planchet boasting deep mirrors, lending to the boisterous cameo effect recognized by NGC. A most pleasing specimen only encountered once every few years at auction, certainly worthy of placement within an advanced cabinet.
