Lüneburg. Free City Taler 1547 AU Details (Reverse Rim Filed) NGC, Lüneburg mint, Dav-9419, Schnee-4. An emblematic canting badge type, making a play on the reverse (obverse as holdered) motif ("luna," the moon) and the city's name. Most often seen circulated or damaged, the noted rim filing on this piece seems exceedingly minor, and largely forgivable for its age, particularly considering that this representative has suffering no other post-mint mishandling that is worthy of note. Soundly struck and ideally centered to an extent often lacking from numerically finer examples, and worthy of close consideration as such. Privately purchased from CNG in April 2011; Stack's (April 2009, Lot 1706) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
