Bavaria. Ludwig I "Monument" Taler 1835 MS65 NGC, Munich mint, KM778, Dav-575, AKS-134, Thun-67. Commemorating the monument to the separation of Queen Therese from her some, King Otto. A somewhat scarcer one-year type, produced in memory of the monument near Aibling, erected for Otto of Bavaria's journey to Greece after being elected King in 1832. Produced to virtually Prooflike specifications, one is immediately struck by by the contrast of the darkened surface patina with the frosty finish of the devices--accentuating the coin's reliefs and best appreciated when the piece is tipped from end to end in hand.
