Description

Baden. Friedrich I Taler 1870 MS65 Prooflike NGC, Karlsruhe mint, KM245, Dav-531, AKS-124, Thun-31. Mintage: 21,510. Already one of the lowest mintage dates for the type, it is truly a rare occasion that one is able to locate such a firmly Prooflike (truly essentially Proof) striking. Such is made all the more noteworthy by the grading services' general hesitancy to award such grades within the series, just one other piece (1868) yet having been recognized in this finish. Moreover almost cameoed between the fields and devices, and likely among the nicest available to commerce. Ex. Johann Max Böttcher Collection (Harald Möller Auction 42, November-December 2006, Lot 145) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
