Ramie Fibre Company Ltd. Borneo copper 1/2 Dollar Token ND (1898-1900) MS63 Brown NGC, SS-81 (RRR), LaWe-732 (RRR). Plain edge. A reportedly incredibly elusive token type, standing as the finer of only two certified representatives, and apparently only the second to come to auction within recent memory. Supposedly located in the area around Ranau according to Saran Singh, the tokens of Ramie Fibre Co. clearly draw their inspiration from the 1853-Dated peacock Kyat of Burma. Toned to a rich dark chocolate, the surfaces contain a pronounced glassy flash over thick die polish, just a few scattered marks likely precluding a numerically finer designation. For the sake of comparison, we would note an MS62 Brown hammered for approximately $6200 last November.
