Republic gold Counterstamped Escudo ND (1849-1857) XF40 NGC, San Jose mint, KM84, Stickney-C431. Displaying Type VII round lion counterstamp with legend HABILITADA PO EL GOBIERNO (XF Standard) on the obverse and reverse of a Central American Republic Escudo 1844 CR-M (cf. KM14). A piece which shows remarkably well-centered and aligned counterstamps on both faces, leading to an refined finish lesser-seen in the series. Mislabeled on the holder as Type VI counterstamp.
