Republic silver Specimen Essai Patacon 1879 SP64 PCGS, Brussels mint, KM-XE6, Guttag-211A, Janson-25.1. By C. Wurden. A rarely seen Essai type that appears on the market with great infrequency. The piece's Pattern production immediately becomes evident upon inspection in hand, its razor-sharp devices standing in high relief against the fields surrounding. The features remain lightly frosted underneath a veil of apricot patina that progresses with appealing uniformity into the fields, which are marked by a persistent and attractive mirrorlike finish that instantly conveys a sense of quality and top-caliber production. Close inspection reveals only light wispy hairlines across the surfaces to cap the assigned grade, leaving no unsightly marks to detract from the piece's charming visual allure.
