Marc Antony and Octavian, as Imperators and Triumvirs (43-33 BC). AR denarius (19mm, 3.91 gm, 3h). NGC XF 4/5 - 4/5. Military mint traveling with Antony in Ephesus(?), ca. 40-39 BC. M•ANTON•IMP•III•VIR•R•P•C, bare head of Marc Antony right / CAESAR•IMP•III•VIR•R•P•C•, bare head of Octavian right, wearing long sideburn and short beard. Crawford 528/2b. Sydenham 1193a. Antonia 38. Two excellent portraits on lustrous flan. Very attractive in hand. Extremely rare - only three examples in sales archives; the most recent Numismatica Ars Classica, Auction 73 (18 November 2013), lot 262 (realized 20,000 CHF).
