Description

William IV Proof Crown 1834 PR66 Cameo NGC, KM715, S-3833, ESC-2465 (R5; prev. ESC-275). Plain edge. Coin alignment. A superb specimen and technically close to perfection, without hairlines or marks other than the faintest possible signs of a few wispy contacts, the rims blemish-free and graced by a lovely sheen of delicate silvery gray iridescence atop still highly reflective fields, against which the large open portrait is set in delicate contrast with its frosted finish. The overall appearance is similar to that of an antiqued mirror, a subtle yet fitting expression of iridescent undertones primarily held with the legends. Of tremendous visual appeal for this popular type, it is difficult to imagine a meaningfully superior example of this renowned William IV crown issue.
