Description

William IV gold Proof 1/2 Sovereign 1831 PR66+ Ultra Cameo NGC, KM716, S-3830, W&R-267 (R3). Plain edge. Top-of-the-charts in terms of both visual and technical appeal, William's portrait richly decorated in mint frost that remains nearly undisturbed by handling. This fact, along with a similar display of velveteen frost to the reverse features, yields an unmistakable cameo effect in this gem example, a feature that is easily discernible from all viewing angles. Handling is virtually irrelevant across the surfaces, with no significant instances visible to the naked eye. Truly superb, and the absolute finest example yet encountered by NGC.
