Description

Utrecht. Provincial 1/2 Ducaton 1761 MS65 NGC, KM115, Delm-1055, CNM-2.43.105. In a word: astounding. Simply breathtaking quality that blows past its assigned designation. The fields are imbued with a deep plumb patina and an underlying glassiness, while a few planchet striations manage to pair with the razor-sharp edges of the design elements to produce a distinctively specimen-like appearance. While a handful of finer specimens exist for the type within the census, few can lay claim to the overall gravitas possessed by the current offering. Ex. Irving Goodman Collection (Goldberg Auction 15, June 2002, Lot 867)
