Japan Bank of Japan 1000 Yen ND (1945) Pick 45s3 Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. As the Japanese economy spiraled into decline as World War II approached its end, this highest denomination banknote had considerable buying power. As such, few were issued and most were hastily redeemed shortly after issue, as they were not useful in circulation. This Specimen was created from a fully issued banknote, complete with serial numbers. Red overprints and hole punched cancellations were applied after the fact. A desirable denomination and design in any and all formats.
