Republic Proof 5 Centavos 1961 PR65 Cameo NGC, KM18 (10 known), Gomez-107. The rarest Proof date in the series, and one that is rarely seen by collectors, missing altogether from the Byrne Collection and left entirely unpriced by Estrella Gomez. To-date 6 examples have been certified by NGC, with this being only the second we have handled since our sale of the Whittier Collection in 2006. Though graded the same as the Whittier specimen (which brought $1740 when it returned to auction in September), the coin at hand appears to be its visual superior, deeply mirrored in the fields with just the lightest hints of tone, and barely a trace of haze in the margins.
