People's Republic gold Proof "Kuan Yin" 5 Ounce Medal 1989, KM-Unl. 60mm. Mintage: 300. A very rare gold commemorative medal, depicting the Goddess of Kuan Yin sitting on a lotus throne, while the reverse displays an incantation and incense burner. To-date, this is only the second such specimen we have encountered, with the last bringing $14,400 in our January New York sale #3081. This piece is sold encased in its mint capsule and vinyl packaging, together with its original case of issue and COA #51. We note that any distortion in the photos is the result of photographing the medal through the vinyl packaging.
