Description

George IV Proof Crown 1826 PR63 NGC, KM699, S-3806, ESC-2336 (R), L&S-28. SEPTIMO edge. Mintage: 150. Referred to as a pattern both by Bull and Linecar and Stone, this exquisite Proof-only crown from George IV's coronation set serves as an ideal testament to the debut of William Wyon's 'bare head' portrait. Dressed in a rich, old-world gunmetal patina over the surfaces, a quick rotation of the coin in good light immediately brings to bear eye-catching rainbow elements in the margins. Incredibly desirable so choice, we note that the last example in this grade that we sold brought $19,320 in our January 2019 NYINC sale. From the Storck Collection
