French Colony Proof 10 Cents 1879-A PR66 PCGS, Paris mint, KM4, Lec-Unl. An incredible specimen of immense rarity in this Proof format, with reportedly only 3 other examples certified as such between NGC and PCGS combined, for the date, only one of which ties the present piece at PR66. Thoroughly gorgeous throughout with an intensive jewel-like finish on the reverse created by cascading shades of sapphire, lapis-lazuli, and amethyst. For comparison, we note that a PR65-graded piece brought $7200 in our 2018 June Hong Kong sale.
