Szechuan. Hsüan-t'ung Dollar ND (1909-1911) MS64 PCGS, KM-Y243.1, L&M-352, Kann-150, WS-0747. With inverted A for V in PROVINCE. A simply phenomenal grade for this final dollar of imperial Szechuan, and within the milled coinage of the province in general, with the majority of issues both plagued by weak striking in the peripheries and often coming down to the present day heavily circulated or cleaned. To-date, only 21 out of over 800 examples at NGC and PCGS combined have been certified in Mint State, of which only one specimen ranks finer than the present coin, and that by just one grade point. Blazing with mint luster over fully original surfaces, hardly a feature of the coin seems out of place or underexpressed; next to no chatter in the fields and all the details admirably sharp. The next finest example we can locate coming to sale was an MS62, which hammered for $11,500 in 2015.
