Russia State Assignat 5 Rubles 1826 Pick A17 PMG Very Fine 25. The paper quality and overall condition are simply wonderful. Few survivors from his 1819-1843 issue are known in conditions above Fine. While Pick does not split the notes issued from 1819 to 1843, the notes dated 1826 were the first to show Nicholas I's coat of arms, following his ascension to the throne in 1825. They are, for all intents and purposes, a new design and deserving of their own listing in the Standard Catalog. This piece boasts full printed details and an even blue paper color, unbroken by the minor circulation. The note is dated 1826 in the lower left, the first full year of reign for Nicholas I. This is a rare date, unpriced in any reference, and many times rarer than the 1827-1830 dated notes. Some repairs are noted, which do not affect the overall eye appeal of the note.
