ATHENS, Tet, 465-460 BC, Athena head r/owl stg rt, Starr V.B, early transitional type with distinctively different owl head, much scarcer than the later "mass coinage" type; AEF, obv beautifully centered & well struck with Athena's hair waves sharp; rev nrly centered & complete. Good metal with lt tone. Highly desirable. (A GVF, this exact variety, brought sold for $2704, Nomos 12/17.)
